Sitting down at a local small restaurant after our walk along the lake we had a wonderful meal of locally caught fish and some vegetables washed donw with the local Bintang beer. The rich volcanic soil provided a wonderful growing medium. We drove down to the perimeter of the lake watching local fishermen catch fish and the local villagers tending to their vegetable fields. The lake is inside of the caldera of an active volcano, Mount Batur, located along the Ring of Fire of volcanic activity. Lake Batur is a volcanic crater lake in Kintamani, Bali, Bangli Regency of Bali, located about 30 km northeast of Ubud in Bali. We had climbed Mount Batur only 2 years before so this was a real eye opener. We took a drive up to Lake Batur and were somewhat shocked as Mount Batur was erupting creating a gray ash over all the local vegetation. The image quality in many cases is poor as many of the negatives were damaged by heat and humidity over time. These photos were captured on a Canon film camera and the negatives subsequently scanned and then post processed in Capture One Pro. We made a visit to Bali in 1994 staying in Ubud which provided a good central location to visit some of the sights in Bali.
